Is IntraLase LASIK Right for Me?

IntraLase LASIK

There have been so many advances in the way that the medical community is able to treat vision issues over the past century. If a person was to travel back in time to the start of the 20th century, one of the only viable options for correcting problems with your vision was to use glasses. The latter part of the 20th century saw the introduction of contact lenses, and later the use of LASIK surgery. One option that is typically recommended these days is IntraLase LASIK. This is a style of LASIK surgery that is considered to be top-of-the-line. It produces stellar results while at the same time leading to a lot fewer complications than other forms of LASIK.

IntraLase LASIK is commonly referred to as an all-laser LASIK. This makes it a little bit different than traditional LASIK surgery. With traditional LASIK surgery, while a portion of the vision correcting procedure is performed using lasers, the flap is created using a scalpel or a blade. With IntraLase LASIK, the entire procedure, including the making of the flap, is done with the laser.

This is an amazing idea for individuals who were unable to use LASIK surgery in the past. Some people had corneas that were just too thin, and so the risk of doing LASIK surgery outweighed the benefits. With the all-laser procedure, the corneal flap is made very thin, it is very precise and it produces exceptional results.

One of the reasons why the results are so precise is because much of the procedure is monitored and controlled with computers. Thanks to this pinpoint control, the laser is able to accomplish its task at unbelievably fast speeds. It is able to target the corneal tissue and divide it at the molecular level, all the while delivering no laser or no heat impact to the surrounding tissue.

IntraLase LASIK lets patients heal fast. It allows Dr. Patel to be more accurate. It produces an eye flap recovery that is more natural than what is obtained using a blade during the procedure.

Individuals who have had IntraLase LASIK procedures are less likely to suffer from dry eye and have fewer postoperative issues. You may be a candidate for this procedure if in the past, you looked into LASIK surgery and were told that because your cornea was too thin, you did not qualify. Now, the door may be open for you to have this amazing vision enhancing procedure performed.
