Enhance Your Quality of Life with Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery

Cataracts are the leading cause of vision loss in the world. They occur when the natural crystalline lens inside the eye begins to grow opaque over time, and it’s a condition that happens to half the population by the time we are 80 years old. There is no way to prevent cataract formation, but they can be treated surgically. If you have cataracts, cataract surgery performed by Dr. Patel can help bring back crisp, clear vision.

Symptoms of a Cataract

Cataracts usually begin on the outside rim of the lens, meaning you may not be aware of it at all for quite some time. Gradually, small changes to your vision may begin, such as needing more light to focus on tasks and having blurry vision. You may also note a brownish tinge to your vision. Cataracts do not cause discomfort. They can be seen quite clearly by Dr. Patel during your routine exam.

How Cataract Surgery Works

Cataract surgery is a quick, outpatient procedure. The natural crystalline lens of your eye is removed and replaced with a permanent intraocular lens. Dr. Patel is well-versed in this procedure, which is considered one of the safest and most highly-perfected in the world of medicine. Recovery is very quick, with most normal activities resuming after 24 hours. However, this depends on the situation, as recovery time varies from patient to patient based on a variety of different factors.
